As far as wedding venues go, The Modern Honolulu is a photographer’s dream. Vibrant white interiors, lush green plants, beautiful textured timber and styled out in a clean, modern, beach vibe. Tucked in between the Ala Wai Harbor and Waikiki Beach, it is the perfect location for a stylish, tropical wedding. There are so many locations within the hotel to have both the ceremony and reception, not to mention endless photography opportunities. Whether your wedding is big or small, the Modern Honolulu can do either as well as providing luxurious accommodation for your guest.

Well within walking distance to the hotel are some stunning locations for wedding portrait sessions. The palm covered beach, the Hilton Village lagoon (which has it’s very own chapel) and of course Diamond Head all make for beautiful backdrops. Not only was our stay at the Modern relaxed and luxurious, the service that we received and their attention to detail was amazing.

Even if you aren’t getting married and you are just travelling to the beautiful island of Oahu, I can’t recommend The Modern Honolulu enough. We will be going back for sure! x

Because I get 100% of my work from word of mouth (yep all of it!) it usually works out that I have some connection to the bride and groom or a family member or guest. I love that! And what I love even more is when I get to photograph a wedding of my friends. I felt so honoured that Angela & Nathan chose me to be their photographer for their day…it was perfect, like fairytale perfect…and I feel lucky that I got to see it all!

I can’t count the number of times during their day that I had to wipe the tears from my eyes…I am so happy for you Mr & Mrs King!

When helping my couples decide on a location for their engagement shoot, I often suggest choosing a location that has some meaning to them. Whether it be the place they met, where he proposed, maybe it is just somewhere you like to hang out. Of course I have a heap of locations I can suggest but it’s always special when we go somewhere that is significant to them.

Roma Street Parklands is that place for Aiden & Rory…Rory works at the Roma Street Parklands which made for the perfect location for them. x

Venue…The Chapel Montville

The Sunshine Coast Hinterland is certainly not short of stunning wedding venues and after years of shooting weddings up on the range I am super excited to be discovering a new one…The Chapel. Perched upon the picturesque hillside of Montville, The Chapel is surrounded by rolling mountains, ocean views and one cute village which makes for one beautiful wedding venue.

And thats even before you step onto the Chapel grounds…

When visiting the Chapel, Marcus gave me the grand tour and this place honestly left me a little speechless. The timeless stone, the glass, the Swarovski crystal details, the intricate carvings, the one of a kind onyx flooring all create a stunning one of a kind location.

Another major draw point to this venue is that you can have your entire day there. There is accomodation at the Montville Studio Suites, The Chapel for the ceremony as well as photos and then Poet’s Cafe or Poet’s Reception Gallery…all within a few metres of each other. They really have you covered!

I can’t wait to be back at the Chapel next month to shoot a wedding there!
